The cat immediately slipped away from the scene.
Meanwhile the birds found some feathers and bones near the hollow of the tree. The birds thought the vulture was ungrateful and ate the helpless little birds.
Now the king of the birds said, “Do not be hasty and blame him”.
However the birds said, “These feathers and bones are a proof of his act”.
Yet the king pursued them saying, “For so long he has served us in gratitude. What is the reason for him to suddenly eat our little ones? Mere feathers and bones in his hollow do not prove anything. We should investigate”.
So the king asked the vulture, “Dear old vulture, our little ones are missing and we have found some bones and feathers near your hollow. Can you explain what happened?”
The vulture realized what had happened and said, “Alas! What happened? How foolish I was to believe the cunning cat. He deceived me with his good words”. So the old vulture told the birds about the cat.
The birds hunted for the cat and taught him a lesson.
