He was not used to eating rotis. However, at that time he was ready to eat anything. Hunger knows no taste! He was restlessly waiting, occasionally peeping inside thinking when the food will be served. Then a lady from the kitchen brought plates of lunch.
When Swami looked at the plates, he was surprised. There was the pickle of his liking, dal, rice and curd. Surprisingly there were no rotis.
Master smilingly said, “I know you two are South Indians and like to have rice with pickle. I especially asked the ladies to make hot rice and so it became slightly late”. Swami and his wife being hungry started eating. He then saw the same lady bringing one more plate and giving it to Master. Swami was ashamed of his bad manners.
Before eating, Swami observed that the Master was in a prayful mood before taking food. Later Swami came to know that the Master was waiting for him and had not eaten any lunch. Swami learnt in a practical manner how to be humble and how to serve others. As if the Master was aware of all this, He patted his back with affection. Tears rolled down Swami’s eyes for the love and concern shown by the Master.
This incident made Swami remember the Master all his life and he started following the Master’s commandment, ‘Be happy to eat in constant divine
