It is said that Albert Einstein had a dog. Once he was working on the table on which there were papers he had written in the last 20 years. His dog upturned the lamp on his table and the labour of his about
20 last years of life got reduced to ashes in no time. It is stated that he just patted the dog and said ‘You do not know what great harm you have dealt to me’. He had maintained a calm state of mind even after suffering such a great loss. From him, we can learn the true value of equanimity.
Think and Answer:
1. If Albert Einstein, instead of being calm, had become angry at the dog, what would have been the uses of such a reaction?
2. If you were in Einstein’s situation, how would you react and why?
