The human body is a good example of cooperation. If we consider the human body as a whole, the individual body parts always work together for the good of all. No body part works for its own interest. If they work like that, the parts as well as the whole body will suffer. Let us listen to a short story.
Once the hands, legs, eyes, ears and mouth started to fight with each other. Each one said that they were more important than the other. The leg said that it helped the body to walk and that was why it could work. The hand said that it did all the work so it was more important. The eyes said that without seeing, nothing could be done, so they were most important. They decided that the stomach was the most useless. It did no work and only gobbled food. So all the body parts stopped working to teach it a lesson. When the stomach did not get food, the body did not get energy. The hands, legs, eyes, ears all lost their energy and became weak. Then, they realized their mistake and started working together. They understood that they were all connected with each other by the one body that they belonged to. They understood their togetherness and started cooperating again. Then everyone became happy.
Think and Answer:
1. What is the function of the individual body parts in a human body? 2. Why did the body parts fight?
3. What happened when the body parts stopped working?
4. What is cooperation?
