There was once a boy named Pavan. It was a warm evening and he was taking rest in his room. Suddenly the fan stopped. The lights had gone off. He started to feel hot. He wondered where the “air” had gone. So he went to his father. “Father, there is no air in my room anymore. What should I do, I cannot breathe.”
His father said “Ok, let us check it out.”
Pavan and his father came to his room. Pavan’s father said, “let us open the window and see if air comes inside.” He opened the window. Wow, a fresh breeze started coming and Pavan felt cool again. He wondered “Oh, maybe there is a fan outside too which I did not know about.” So he asked his father, “Father, is there a fan outside our house that is bringing air now?”
His father said, “Let us see if there is one.” So Pavan started with his father to search for the fan. They came out of the house. There was nothing. Then they walked across the small land and came to the hill side. There was no fan in sight1. Pavan curiously2 asked, “Father, where is the fan?”
Pavan’s father said, “let us go by the side of the hill where there is pragathi nagar lake.” They went there. Now near the lake they felt the cool breeze again. Pavan felt happy by the lake side. He forgot all about the fan. He enjoyed the lakeside walk with his father.
He ran around the lake, looked at the waters and looked at the fish. After he got tired, he started to walk back home with his father. Suddenly, he remembered the fan. “Father, Father, we forgot to look for the fan? Where is it? Where is it?” he screamed.
His father laughed, “Dear Pavan, Nature is the big fan. It is everywhere and it provides air everywhere, that is needed for us to live.”
“The hills, the big fields, the trees, the lake and the big sky, all together are the big fan which moves the air.”
“Oh, then why did I not feel air in my room, when the fan stopped?”
