Lord Rama’s wife devi Sita was kidnapped by King of Lanka, Ravana. Hanuman at the behest1 of Rama found the whereabouts2 of devi Sita and informed Lord Rama. Rama with the support of vanara sena set out to rescue devi Sita. They had to cross the ocean to reach Lanka. Rama prayed to the God of Ocean to build a bridge. Samudra Devata appeared and suggested that he could take Angada’s help, in building the bridge.
Each one contributed according to their capacity in building the bridge with rocks and boulders. The bridge was built by different beings each serving in their own capacity in five days.
Lord Rama along with his army was able to cross the ocean and kill the evil lord of Lanka, Ravana.
