Suddenly out of nowhere came a voice, “But he has nothing on!”, from a little child.
“Just listen to the innocent child!”, said the Prime minister who was close by, and each one whispered to his neighbour what the child had said. “But he has nothing on!”, everybody called out at last.
The king was shocked to notice the whispers, for it seemed to him that they were right. He signalled his prime minister and he immediately got some clothes for the king. The imposters came forward and told the king about the whole plan.
The king felt ashamed of himself and promised in front of everyone that from that day onwards he would only wear simple clothes and take good care of his subjects. He also asked all of his courtiers to be honest with him
going forward and state what they think is the truth, like the prime minister did.
