P. 50
There was once a man called Manohar who was known to have very good self-control1. He used to sell clothes. There was a group of boys who wanted to test Manohar’s self- control. They actually wanted to upset him and make him angry. They came to his shop and asked for a piece of cloth to purchase. Manohar gave them the cloth.
They asked him, “How much does this cost?”. He replied, “100 Rs”. Then one of the boys tore apart the cloth into two pieces. How much does this cost now? They asked. He calmly replied that it costs 50 Rs. Then one of the other boys tore it into two more pieces. They thought Manohar would get angry now, but that was not the case. Manohar said that the piece of cloth is useless now and they can have it for free. The boys were surprised at the self-control shown by Manohar.
They admitted2 that they wanted to make him angry but failed to do so. They sought Manohar’s forgiveness and said that they have learnt a lesson in self-control. They also paid to Manohar the cost of the cloth that was torn by them.
