The crow agreed and they began living together. Meanwhile the cunning jackal was waiting for an opportunity to kill the deer. One day the jackal saw a field of grains.
Jackal: “Friend Deer, I saw a field full of grain. Please come with me and I will show it to you”.
From that day on, the deer grazed in the fields. One day as the jackal had hoped, the farmer of the fields saw the deer. He got angry and set a trap to catch the deer.
The next day the deer was caught in the trap. He was very sad. He waited for the jackal to come and rescue him.
When the jackal came, he saw the deer and chuckled to himself.
Deer: “Dear friend, you came here on time. I am caught in the trap. Please gnaw at this net and free me”.
Jackal: “I am very sorry my friend. Today is Sunday. I am fasting and I cannot touch the net. Please ask me for anything else that I can be of help to you”.
He went away and hid in the bushes waiting for the farmer to kill the deer.
