P. 21
When the crow did not find his friend deer for a long time, he started searching for him. After searching everywhere for his friend, he came upon the field.
Crow: “Alas! My poor friend! How did this happen?”
Deer: “This is my fate. This is the result of not taking your advice. Now I know the true colours of the jackal. He must be waiting and hiding there behind the bushes to taste my flesh”.
Crow: “ There is no reason to worry now. There comes the farmer with his club. I have an idea. I want you to lay still with your stomach out and legs stiffened. I will peck at your eyes. When I caw spring to your feet and run for your life”.
The deer did exactly what the crow said.
When the farmer came and saw the deer, he thought the deer was dead and removed the net. The crow cawed and the deer ran off. Annoyed at having been tricked, the farmer flung his club. It hit the jackal and killed him.
Moral: The friendship of the good is sweeter and helpful. The friendship of the bad grows bitter and harmful.
