Everyone worked hard and after three days, they hit water in the ground. They were overjoyed! They started preparing the land near the river. They planted watermelon and cucumber seeds and started ferrying water to the field. After a few days, beautiful watermelons and cucumbers grew in the field. The youths then decided to take the crops back to their village. Each of them carried a filled up basket and started back. As they passed through Dhobni, they saw that there were mostly old people there. They also did not have any crops and they were very weak without food. One of the villagers asked Raju whether they grew the watermelons near their village’s river. Shyam, one of the five, whispered to Raju that the villagers would demand to give the watermelons to them if told the watermelons were cultivated near Dhobni’s river. Shyam told Raju to tell the villagers that the crops came from a distant village. Raju was an honest boy. He argued that they should tell the truth otherwise their work would become tainted with dishonesty. So, Raju told the villagers how they grew the crops. The old villagers thought that they could also do the same.
