People used to give him money for this trip. The poor man now was happy. Only he knew the route to this island. So only he could bring people to the island. People used to come on his boat and sail around the island.
They used to enjoy the sight of eagles soaring2 high, peacocks spreading their feathers, parrots feasting on the trees and nightingales singing in chorus.
After some days, the man became greedy. He wanted to build a house on the island so that people can even stay in the night and enjoy the birds early in the morning, so that he can ask for even more money. He cut a patch of grass, cut some trees and started to build the house. The next day when he returned to the island to build the house, there were fewer birds. There were no nightingales
singing, no parrots to be seen.
Next day he came, there were even fewer birds. The eagles disappeared and even the peacocks went away. After a few days there were no birds left. The birds had flown off and moved to another far off island. The man became sad. Then he realized his mistake. He realized that the home of the birds was getting disturbed when he started building the house. He realized that he should not have been greedy.
